In 2015, the S. Antonio power plant was already the fifth-largest hydroelectric power plant in the Province of Bolzano with an installed capacity of 72 MW and an annual production output of 270 GWh.
From mid 2016 until spring 2019, Eisackwerk Srl completely revamped the plant. Extraordinary maintenance was carried out to the adduction channels and the reservoir, while the penstocks, the entire electromechanical system, and the plant itself were replaced and moved underground. The power output of the plant was increased from 72 MW to 90 MW and annual production from 270 GWh to 300 GWh. Eisackwerk also built an underground demodulation reservoir with a capacity of 95,000 m³ in order to contrast the hydropeaking in the river downstream of the plant. The main goal of the revamp was to increase the efficiency while at the same time reducing the environmental impact of the plant.
Currently, the Eisackwerk Group has more than 110 MW of installed capacity and annual production of 400 GWh.
Annual Production: 300,000,000 kWh
Maximum Intake Flow: 18 m³/s
Hydraulic Gross Head: 595 m
Generation Power: 90 MW
Turbines: 3 Pelton turbines with 4 nozzles each
Construction Cost : 60,000,000 Euro
